Application Engineer – MULTIPLE OPENINGS!

Job Description:
One of our Global Aerospace Partners is looking for multiple Application Engineers to support separation activities within Aerospace, Supply Chain, Rotating Parts and Compressor Airfoils divisions which plays a major role in delivering jet engines, components, and integrated systems for both commercial and military aircraft. We’re seeking experienced Application Engineers to help lead the modernization and re-write of 100+ legacy Windows-based applications built in VB6, VB.NET with MS Access databases to a more modern framework, in .NET C# with relational database structures in MySQL/ MSSQL. These applications are internal (not internet-facing), Windows-based applications, used by onsite personnel at the Aerospace facility. This person will leverage both on-premise and AWS cloud infrastructure, as they help migrate to the new environment. Currently, there is only one other leader supporting application engineering for this site, so they need help both in the short-term and long-term as they migrate to the new environment. Requirements:
• 7+ years of experience as a Windows Application Engineer or Software Developer with a strong focus on legacy system modernization, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• Deep technical expertise:
o Designing and developing legacy VB6/VB.NET applications utilizing MS Access databases for data storage and application logic.
o Designing and developing modern .NET C# applications as part of the modernization and re-write, incorporating scalable architecture.
o Relational database design, development, and administration skills in MySQL and MSSQL relational databases, to normalize tables and support modern application architectures.
o Writing and optimizing stored procedures in both SQL Server and MySQL environments to support application logic, data manipulation, and performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and managing hybrid infrastructure environments, leveraging both on-premise and cloud-based resources for scalable, reliable application deployment.
• Proven track record of leading or supporting major application conversion/migration projects.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and contribute to the re-engineering and modernization of legacy applications developed in VB6, VB.NET, and MS Access database.
• Design and develop new applications in .NET C#, transitioning to relational database structures using MySQL and/or MSSQL.
• Write, optimize, and maintain stored procedures to support application logic, performance tuning, and data integrity.
• Collaborate closely with the existing Application Engineering lead to define modernization roadmaps, technical standards, and best practices.
• Analyze existing codebases to understand business logic, workflows, and system dependencies.
• Work in a hybrid environment, supporting both on-premise and AWS cloud-based infrastructures.
• Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to ensure minimal disruption to operations during application transitions.
• Provide documentation, testing, and support during each phase of application conversion.
